Ingredients

  • 1 6 oz box stove top stuffing
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Bring the water to a boil in a medium pot, stir in the stuffing mix to evenly incorporate, and set aside to let it cool completely.
  • Transfer the cooled moistened stuffing to a large mixing bowl. Add the cheese and sausage. Mix together until evenly combined.
  • Roll the sausage mixture into 1 - 1 1/2" balls and place them on a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Do this until all the dough's been used.
  • Place the pan in the refrigerator and chill the unbaked sausage balls for 1 hour.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 minutes, or until cooked through.

Notes

  • While any variety of stove top stuffing mix will work our favorites include: chicken, pork, or the sage flavors.
  • Use a quality sausage and quality cheese for this appetizer since those are the primary flavors that will shine through.
  • Don't forget to cover your baking pan with parchment paper! It makes cleanup easier and keeps the sausage balls from sticking to the pan.
