10 large apples, 2 tbsp cornstarch
Add the sugar and spices to a small bowl, then whisk them together until evenly combined and no lumps remain. Sprinkle this mixture evenly out over the apples.
1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1 tbsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, 1/2 tsp ground all spice
Place the pats of butter evenly out over the apples.
4 tbsp salted butter
Cover and cook on HIGH for 2 hours, or until the apples are fork tender.
Give everything a gentle stir, and serve warm.
- Want to make it even easier? Use one tablespoon apple pie spice in place of the seasoning blend recommended.
- Don't let the apples overcook. If you do, you can mash them for homemade applesauce.
- I highly recommend Granny Smith apples for this. They are firmer and will cook nicely.
