Drain off any grease.
Add the meat mixture to your slow cooker.
Combine the cornstarch, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a small bowl and stir it into the slow cooker.
Cover it and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
15 minutes before serving add the cheese into the slow cooker.
Cover and let cook 15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
Then stir it well and scoop the meat onto soft buns to serve.

Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat them in the microwave until warm.
The bread can get soggy on assembled sandwiches that are stored.
If possible store the filling separately from the buns.
Tips and Tricks
- Make sure to use lean ground beef. While Will Smith liked his cheesesteaks greasy in the Fresh Prince, if you use fattier beef you won’t have as much meat and it will be sort of unappealing.
- You can brown the meat, onions and peppers beforehand and freeze for when you are ready to throw everything in the slow cooker.
- Want to add more veggies? You can add mushrooms if you like.
- For a faster prep you could use frozen peppers and onions or buy precut veggies from the store.
- You can use any cheese you like, american, mozzarella or even Cheez-Whiz for a more authentic Philly experience.
- I love using brioche buns or onion buns but this would also be great in a sub bun.
