Move over spaghetti and meat sauce and say hello to this delicious Mongolian ground beef and noodles.
It takes the same classic beef and pasta combination and swaps Italian flavors for Asian ingredients like hoisin sauce and soy sauce.
The result is a boredom busting dinner that gets rave reviews anytime I make it.
What is Mongolian Beef Sauce Made of?
Mongolian beef sauce is a combination of soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and hoisin sauce.
The resulting sauce is sweet and savory.
Ingredients
To make it, you’ll need:
- Ground beef– Go for lean ground beef so it’s not too greasy.
- Seasonings– Ginger paste, minced garlic, crushed red pepper flakes
- Oil– Olive oil or another mild light colored oil
- Soy sauce
- Beef broth– Don’t substitute for a different variety of broth
- Sugar– Brown
- Hoisin sauce– This is like Chinese barbecue sauce. You can find it in the Asian foods aisle of any grocery store.
- Noodles– Linguine noodles
- Garnish– Fresh cilantro and sesame seeds
How to Make
Easy Mongolian ground beef and noodles comes together in no time at all and is perfect for beginner cooks.
To do it, start by boiling a pot of water with olive oil and salt in it.
Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook it according the directions on the package until it reaches al dented.
Drain it and set aside.
While you’re waiting for the water to boil, start cooking the beef with the ginger and garlic in a large skillet over medium high heat.
Break up the meat as it cooks, and keep cooking until the beef’s crumbled and completely cooked through.
Strain off all excess grease.
Then whisk the soy sauce, broth, sugar, hoisin, and red pepper flakes in a mixing bowl evenly incorporated.
Pour the sauce over the cooked beef in the skillet, stirring well, and saute the mixture for 10 minutes.
Add the cooked, strained pasta to the skillet with the beef mixture, gently tossing until well combined.
Cook the mixture on medium high heat, stirring often, just until the sauce has thickened.
Serve warm with garnish, and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the microwave until warmed through.

Instructions

- Pour the sauce over the cooked beef in the skillet, stirring well, and saute the mixture for 10 minutes.
- Add the cooked and strained pasta to the skillet with the beef mixture, gently tossing until well combined.
- Cook the mixture on medium high heat, stirring often, just until the sauce has thickened.
