Pie crust crackers are an easy way to use up leftover pie dough scraps or a refrigerated pie crust that’s outlived it’s shelf life. These crackers make the perfect topping for soups and salads and are melt in your mouth delicious!
I always have refrigerated pie crust on hand during the holiday season.
It’s not in my nature to fuss and make a homemade one.
You know how sometimes you’ll have little pie crust scraps leftover?
It’s always seemed like a shame to let that buttery goodness go to waste.
So why not pop them in the oven and make them into crackers?
Yes, crackers.
Both my son and my god daughter eat this as legit crackers.
And I don’t blame them one bit!
They are melt in your mouth delicious and oh so buttery!
Plus they are so easy to make, you can make them any time and treat yourself or your kids.
Ingredients
To make this you need only one ingredient:
- Pie crust– The refrigerated kind. You could also use the scraps from homemade pie crust. Whatever you have!
How to Make
These pie crust crackers couldn’t be easier to make!
Just lay the pie crust out on a clean, very lightly floured, cutting board.
Cut across the pie crust to make 1″ thick strips then come back and cut in the opposite direction to cut the strips into 1″ crackers.
Transfer the pie crust pieces to a large rimmed baking sheet and spread them out in an even layer.
You don’t even need to grease it the sheet!
Bake at 450° for 7-8 minutes, or until the crackers have puffed up a bit and are nicely toasted.
Remove the tray from the oven and let the crackers cool for 2-3 minutes.
Serve and enjoy!
Seasoning Ideas
These crackers are delicious as is, but you can certainly spice them up some and toss the pie crust pieces in:
- grated Parmesan cheese
- cajun seasoning
- ranch seasoning
- cinnamon and sugar
Storing
Store these on your counter in ziplocking bags for up to a week.
Tips and Tricks
- You can use a sharp knife, pizza cutter, or even a ravioli cutting wheel to make your cuts and cracker shapes. I prefer the pretty edge the ravioli cutter gives them.
- Make sure to use a RIMMED baking sheet, otherwise your cooked pie crust crackers are liable to slide right off when removing the pan from the oven.
- Want more golden brown pie crust crackers? Brush them with an egg wash before baking.
- The number of crackers this recipe makes will totally depend on the size of your cuts and the amount of crust used.
