Truthfully, my boys probably want pizza night more than just on Friday nights.
I try to make it a point not to order takeout every Friday night.
We make different at home pizza recipes to keep it interesting, keep them happy, and save a few dollars.
This slow cooker pizza is one of my favorites!
With just 5 ingredients and almost no prep time at all, it’s no secret that I love it because it is so very easy!
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Pizza Dough– The kind you can buy in the deli section of most grocery stores
- Cheese– Shredded mozzarella and shredded Parmesan cheese
- Sauce– Your favorite marinara sauce. Store bought or homemade.
- Toppings– We are using pepperoni because that’s what we like but you can use your family’s favorite topping.
How to Make
This slow cooker pizza is so easy to make!
Start by lining the slow cooker with an over large sheet of parchment paper, pushing it flat against the bottom of the bowl and bending the top sides of the paper so it hangs over the edges of the bowl of the slow cooker.
Then put the dough in the center of the crock pot, spreading it out so it goes up the sides of the bowl about an inch.
Next spread the sauce out into an even layer on the dough.
Sprinkle the cheese evenly out on top of the sauce layer followed by the pepperoni.
Cover the slow cooker completely with paper towels to absorb moisture, then put the lid on.
Cook on HIGH for 2 hours, checking at the 1.5 hour mark to make sure the edges aren’t burning.
Remove the lid and the damp paper towels then carefully lift the pizza out using the hanging edges of the parchment paper.
Transfer the pizza to a cutting board.
Slice, serve, and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Reheat in a hot oven until warmed through.
Tips and Tricks
- There are so many variations of this pizza! You could substitute the sauce for pesto sauce or alfredo sauce and switch out the toppings and cheeses.
- Whatever you do, don’t skip the parchment lining! The parchment makes it easy to get the pizza out of the slow cooker. Without it, the pizza will stick to the bowl of the Crock Pot.
- The key for success with this recipe? The paper towels. They will absorb all the moisture and steam, preventing it from condensing onto the slow cooker lid and dripping back onto the pizza, making a soggy pizza.
