Do you ever want to be the cool mom?
Then make your kids homemade ice cream pops.
They will think you are the best, guaranteed.
And don’t even tell me you don’t have time for that or it sounds too hard.
There’s nothing to these!
3 ingredients and under 10 minutes to make and you’ve got that cool mom status in the bag.
Ingredients and Supplies
To make these you’ll need the following ingredients:
- Strawberry ice cream– Use a quality ice cream. I recommend Edy’s, also known as Dreyer’s depending on where you’re located.
- Strawberry jam– Your favorite store bought brand works.
- Granola– Again your favorite kind of granola. Be wary of the kind with dried fruit and raisins because they freeze very hard.
You’ll also need paper cups and popsicle sticks.
How to Make
To make these strawberry ice cream pops, scoop the ice cream into a large mixing bowl and let it rest for about 5 minutes so it just slightly softens.
Stir the jam into the mixing bowl until it creates ribbons of jam running through the ice cream.
Spoon the mixture evenly into the cups, filling them close to full but not all the way.
Stick a popsicle stick into the center of each cup.
Then sprinkle the granola evenly out into each cup, around the sticks.
Press the granola in gentle.
Put the filled cups on a flat tray and freeze them for 4 hours or until firm.
Peel away the paper cups and discard them and enjoy!
How long do ice cream pops store?
If you plan to keep the ice cream pops for more than a day or two, make sure to seal them in a large, freezer bag.
Properly sealed, they should keep for a couple weeks in the freezer.
What kind of paper cups should I use?
The little 3 ounce Dixie cups are perfect.
They have a wax coating on the inside which makes the great for not sticking and easy peel away after freezing.
Tips and Tricks
- You can stir the granola into the ice cream mixture just before spooning it into the cups, but for crunchiest texture just add it to the tops of the cups.
- Press the granola down gently to ensure it sticks to the ice cream.
- You could substitute raspberry or blueberry or even peach for the jam and ice cream flavor if you and your kids prefer.
