How to Make
Making copycat Burger King Original Chicken Sandwiches is fairly easy.
Start by making your patties by combining the ground chicken, 2 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons garlic powder and ¼ teaspoon onion powder in a large bowl.

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into an oblong patty.
Put the patties on a parchment lined tray and freeze them for at least 1 hour.
After an hour in the freezer, set up your dredging station by putting the flour in a bowl or shallow dish, whisking the egg and water together in a second shallow bowl or dish, and mixing together the bread crumbs, black pepper and paprika in the final shallow bowl or dish.

In a large deep skillet heat about an inch of oil over medium high heat.
While the oil heats, dredge the frozen chicken patties in the flour, then egg, then in the panko.
Fry 2 of the chicken patties at a time in oil about 2-3 minutes per side, flipping once.

Make sure the patties are 165 degrees on a meat thermometer.
Set aside the fried chicken patties on a wire rack to drain while you fry the two remaining patties.
Then melt the butter in a clean skillet over medium.

Toast the buns in the buttery pan until they are lightly golden.
Assemble the sandwiches by spreading mayonnaise on the buns, adding a chicken patty and shredded lettuce.
Serve and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers
Store any leftover patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
You can also freeze the patties.
To freeze, let the patties cool to room temperature before putting them in a freezer safe bag.
Freeze them for up to 3 months, defrosting overnight in the fridge and heating in a hot oven until warmed through prior to serving.
Don’t freeze or refrigerate assembled sandwiches as the buns will get soggy and the lettuce will wilt.

Customizations
Make these chicken sandwiches your own with these customizations and variations:
- Swap ground chicken breast for ground chicken thighs or ground turkey for a juicier patty.
- Feel free to use regular breadcrumbs instead of panko if you don’t want the patties as crispy.
- Trade light mayo or jazz them up with garlic aioli or even chipotle mayo for a twist.
- Make it spicy by adding cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the egg wash.
- Skip the mayo and lettuce for marinara and mozzarella cheese for a dupe of Burger King’s Italian Chicken Sandwich.
- Make smaller patties to make game day sliders.
Tips and Tricks
- Any soft sandwich roll or brioche bun works.
- Add more garlic powder or onion powder or even cayenne if you want more flavor in the chicken patties.
- Don’t skip the freezing time! You need the freezing time to help hold the patties together.
- Feel free to add other toppings like sliced tomato or your favorite cheese.
- Make sure the oil stays around 350 degrees so the patties get crisp without burning.
