Big Mac Sloppy Joes

Big Mac sloppy joes give you all the flavors of your favorite fast food burger in an easy, family friendly dinner! These double decker sandwiches are loaded with ground beef, diced onion, special sauce, and cheese before being topped with lettuce and pickles.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion peeled & diced
  • 1/3 cup Thousand Island dressing + more for serving
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • shredded iceberg lettuce for serving
  • sliced dill pickles for serving

Instructions

  • Add the ground beef and onion to a large skillet over medium high heat. Cook and crumble until the beef's cooked through then strain off the excess grease.

  • Add the dressing, salt, and pepper to the skillet then stir together until evenly combined.
    1/3 cup Thousand Island dressing, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • Add the cornstarch and broth to a small bowl and whisk together until evenly combined. Pour the mixture into the skillet and stir together. Cook until thickened.

  • Add a slice of cheese to the bottom buns, then divide meat mixture evenly out over the top of the buns. Add another bottom bun on top followed by another slice of cheese on top.
    8 slices American cheese, 8 hamburger buns
  • Top each evenly with shredded lettuce, pickles, and more dressing then finish it by adding a top bun on top.

Notes

  • You can make this with ground chicken or turkey if you prefer. Just be aware if you substitute the ground beef for a different meat, it will not taste quite as Big Mac like.
  • Add other toppings if you want like tomatoes and chopped raw onions.
  • If you aren't a fan of onions you can skip them.
