Ingredients

  • 6 eggs beaten
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 loaves white bread roughly 30 slices
  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, crumbling as it cooks, until cooked through completely. Strain the sausage to remove excess grease, then transfer to a waiting plate.
    1 lb ground sausage
  • Add the butter to the skillet and once melted, pour in the beaten egg. Season with salt and pepper, then scramble. Remove the skillet from heat and add both the sausage and cheese, stirring until everything's evenly combined.
6 eggs, 1 tbsp butter, salt & pepper, 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • Using an uncrustable cutter, cut circles out of two slices of bread. Add a 1/4 cup of filling to the center of the bottom bread circle. Add the top slice to cover, and use the uncrustable cutter to seal it closed.
    1 1/2 loaves white bread
  • Toast, bake, or air fry just until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
  • Serve & enjoy!

Notes

  • You can save the cut pieces of bread to make egg in a hole.
  • Part of the beauty of making homemade Uncrustables is that you can customize the filling to your liking. Substitute cooked, crumbled bacon for sausage or switch out your cheese or even use wheat bread instead of white bread.
  • Don't have an Uncrustables cutter? Fill the sliced bread then use a mason jar lid or glass and cut around the edges. Use the tines of a fork to press and seal the edges all around.
