Ingredients

  • 2 lbs dry great northern beans
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 ham bone
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 large yellow onion peeled & diced
  • 1 1/2 - 2 cups chopped leftover ham

Instructions

  • Put the liner into your Instant Pot, then add the beans, onion, bay leaf, ham bone, and seasonings to it. Gently pour in the broth and water, but DO NOT stir.

  • Add the lid, turning to close, and set the vent valve to the sealed position. Cook on HIGH pressure for 1 hour.
  • Carefully open the vent valve, avoiding the escaping hot steam, to preform a quick release. Using tongs remove the bay leaf and bone and discard them.
  • Add the ham to the pot, stirring everything together to evenly combine. Cover with the lid and let the mixture rest for 5 minutes.
    1 1/2 - 2 cups chopped leftover ham
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
