Mongolian Meatballs (Slow Cooker Recipe)

Mongolian meatballs are an easy recipe to make right in your slow cooker! Reinvent frozen beef meatballs by cooking them in a sweet but savory Asian inspired sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 lbs frozen beef meatballs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  • Add all of the ingredients to the bowl of the slow cooker, except the meatballs, and whisk them together until evenly combined.
    1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup soy sauce, 1 cup water, 2 tsp ginger paste, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • Add the meatballs and gently toss until they're completely coated.
    2-3 lbs frozen beef meatballs
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours, or HIGH for 3, stirring 1/2 way through the cook time. Give everything a good stir to evenly coat at the end.
  • Serve as an appetizer with toothpicks, or warm over a bed of steamed white rice for a meal.

Notes

  • Garnish these with thinly sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
  • Round out a meal with a side of your favorite steamed veggie and toss it in some of the sauce that's left in your slow cooker.
  • If you want a little more zip in your sauce you can add more garlic and ginger and a dried chile pepper.
