Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 2 10.75 oz cans condensed tomato soup
  • 1 cup reserved hamburger water
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/8 cup yellow mustard
  • 2 1.25 oz pkts McCormick chili seasoning

Instructions

  • Add the beef to a medium sized pot and add water to cover. Boil until the meat's cooked through, stirring occasionally. Reserve 1 cup of the hamburger water, then drain off the rest. If any chunks of beef remain, mash them up.

  • Add the remaining ingredients to the hamburger, stirring to combine. Simmer over low heat for 10-15 minutes, just until the sauce has thickened and the flavors combined.

  • Serve warm over cooked hot dogs and enjoy!

Notes

  • Yes, you have to boil the ground beef in water to cook it. This particular cooking method is what gets the beef to break up into a very fine consistency as it cooks.
  • You can easily double the recipe if serving a crowd. We like to serve it at barbecues and parties and keep it warm in a small crockpot.
  • Once the chili thickens up, give it a taste and add any more seasoning as needed.
