Ingredients

  • 1 lb lil smokies sausages
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • pinch crushed red pepper flakes optional

Instructions

  • Add all of the ingredients, except the sausage, to the bowl of your slow cooker. Whisk until evenly combined.
1 cup barbecue sauce, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp ground mustard, pinch crushed red pepper flakes
  • Add the sausages and gently toss them in the sauce until they're all evenly coated.
    1 lb lil smokies sausages
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours, or on HIGH for 1 1/2 -2 hours.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • The sauce is on the thinner side. If you prefer a thicker sauce then add 1 teaspoon of cornstarch in with the other sauce ingredients at the beginning.
  • Red pepper flakes are totally optional. If you do not like spice, skip them.
  • The barbecue sauce is the most important part of the sauce. You can really change the flavor based on the sauce you choose. And don't forget that you are adding sugar to the mix so a sweet sauce may be too sweet in this.
