- 1 8 count pkg hot dogs

- 8 hot dog buns
Using a sharp pairing knife, carefully cut a 'finger nail' shape into the top of each hot dog. Carefully peel off the outer layer of the cut part of the hot dog to show the nail bed.
1 8 count pkg hot dogs
Cut three short lines under the nail bed to create a 'joint', but make sure they're shallow cuts only that don't go all the way through the hot dog.
Move to the center of the top of the hot dog and cut shallow lines (1 semi circle facing down, then two straight lines, then another semi circle facing up to finish) to make the knuckle.
Repeat these steps until all the hot dogs have been prepared.
Boil the hot dogs per the package instructions, then drain them completely.
Pan fry the hot dogs just until golden brown on all sides.
Carefully dip a hotdog into ketchup 'blood' then add it to a bun. Repeat for all.
ketchup, 8 hot dog buns
Serve warm and enjoy!
- When cutting out the 'finger nail' shape, you can use your own nails for a visual reference on shape.
- The beauty of these is it doesn't matter if they are cut perfectly. Witch fingers are gnarled and sort of misshapen so any way you cut them will work for the aesthetic.
- If the kids are helping, have them use a butter knife or a child-safe nylon or plastic knife for safety.
