Anyone else have incredibly picky eaters?
Picky to the point that it seems like they subsist on only a handful of foods, and no matter how hard you try they dig their heels in and refuse to broaden their horizons? Me too, me too.
I swear one of my kids could, and would, quite happily live off of hot dogs alone.
While I’m not one to typically yuck somebody else’s ‘yum’, I just don’t share his all encompassing love of hot dogs. I still have to ensure there’s a semi-balanced meal on the dinner table each evening, while also making sure he has his safe food as an option if he makes an honest effort to try what’s served.

I’m not a short order cook though, so as a compromise I’ve taught him how to easily make his own hot dogs, hot to order in the convenience of our air fryer.
Lightly crisped on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside- these air fryer hot dogs are quick, easy, and taste like you babysat them on the stovetop until they were just right.

Cook them at 375F for 10 minutes.

Using tongs transfer the cooked hot dogs to buns. Top them with ketchup, mustard, or whatever combination of condiments you prefer.

Serve them with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Alternatively they can be frozen for up to 3 months in an air tight container.
Tips & Tricks
- Use a brand of hot dogs your family is familiar with and enjoys the flavor of. While this method of cooking is easy with minimal clean up, it doesn’t alter the actual flavor of the hot dogs themselves.
- When adding the hot dogs to the basket of the air fryer make sure not too overcrowd them. There needs to be space in between each to allow air to circulate properly as that’s how the air fryer cooks.
- There’s no need to rotate these while they cook. The air circulating around and between them will function the same as turning them would.
- Surprise your picky eaters with hot dogs in their packed lunch! These can be made the night beforehand, allowed to cool, and packed for lunches. For an even fresher option, make them in the morning.
