Butterbeer pie is the dessert Harry Potter fans will go crazy for! This creamy, butterscotch filled pie will instantly transport you into the wizarding world of Hogwarts.
We love Harry Potter in our house.
The books, the movies, all of it.
And while you can definitely do a rewatch any time of year, I love watching the movies the most on rainy fall days or during the holiday season.
Why not make your rewatch into an event with some Harry Potter themed treats like this butterbeer pie?
This pie features a creamy butterscotch filling nestled on top of a graham cracker crust.
A delicious slice of magic for wizards and muggles alike!
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Pie crust– A Pillsbury graham cracker pie crust though you can make your own homemade pie crust if you prefer.
- Cream cheese– Softened to room temperature
- Sugar– Powdered
- Butterscotch syrup– You can buy this online here or buy some in the grocery store near the ice cream sundae toppings
- Butterscotch chips– Find these in the baking aisle near the chocolate chips
- Instant pudding– Butterscotch flavor of course!
- Milk– Cold
- Butter flavoring– Generally found near the popcorn
- Whipped topping– Like Cool Whip. Let it thaw before using it.
How to Make
To make this, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together in a large mixing bowl until it is smooth and creamy.
Once the cream cheese and sugar is smoothly combined, mix in half of the butterscotch syrup and butterscotch chips.
Then pour the mixture into the pie crust, smoothing with a spatula.
Cover the cream cheese mixture with the remaining butterscotch sauce.
Then whisk the instant butterscotch pudding mix together with the cold milk in medium bowl.
Once the pudding thickens, stir in the butter flavor until it’s combined.
Finish the butterbeer filling by folding in the thawed Cool Whip until the pudding mixture is thick and fluffy.
Spread the pudding mixture out over the butterscotch topped cream cheese layer.
Garnish the top of the butterbeer pie with more butterscotch topping and butterscotch chips if desired.
Pop the pie in the fridge and let it chill for 2 hours to let it set.
Once the filling has set, slice, serve, and enjoy.
Storing Leftovers
Storing leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Tips and Tricks
- Let the cream cheese soften on the counter before use.
- Make sure you are using the instant pudding not the kind you have to cook.
- Don’t skip the setting time. The pie filling will thicken during that time and have a better texture.
