How to Make

Air fryer cherry hand pies are pretty easy to make.

Just unroll the crusts onto a sheet of parchment paper.

Use a 3-4″ cookie or biscuit cutter to cut out 6 circles from each of the pie crusts.

Add a large spoonful of pie filling to the center of 6 of the pie circles, leaving 6 pie crust circles with no filling to make into the top of the pies.

Using a large pairing knife, cut small slits in the center of the 6 top pie crust circles.

Dip a pastry brush into water and rub it around the edges of the pie filling topped circles.

Gently squeeze the outer edges of the remaining pastry circles to spread them out slightly.

Close the pies by laying the larger pastry circles evenly out overtop the pie filled circles.

Press the tines of a fork down into and all around the edges of the pie crusts to crimp them together and seal the hand pies.

Put 3-4 prepared hand pies into the basket of your air fryer.

Spray the pies lightly with cooking spray and air fry them at 350° for 8-10 minutes or just until they are golden brown and flaky.

Transfer the hand pies to a serving plate, and repeat until you have air fried all the pies.

Once all the pies are cooked, make the glaze by whisking all of the glaze ingredients together in a small bowl until they are smooth,

Drizzle the glaze evenly out overtop of the hand pies, and let the pies rest just until the glaze sets.

Serve warm and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • You absolutely must cut slits in the top crusts so the pies don’t explode when you are air frying them.
  • If you want to make them in the oven instead, bake them at 375 for 15 minutes or until they are golden brown on the outside.
  • You don’t have to use circle cookie cutters. If you have large shaped cookie cutters (like hearts or flowers), you could use those instead just make sure you make an even number of the same shapes.
