Chicken Fries (Burger King Copycat)
These chicken fries give Burger King’s iconic dish a run for its money! Thinly sliced strips of chicken get coated in flour, bread crumbs and seasoning before being fried to perfection.
When my kids were little, there were two things they’d eat- french fries and chicken nuggets of any variety.
Why not put those two things together into one dish like Burger King does with their chicken fries?
If you’ve never had them chicken fries are thinly sliced strips of chicken that are more or less french fry shape.
Those strips then get breaded and deep fried.
The end result is a french fry shaped chicken nugget perfect for dipping into all your favorite toppings.
Ingredients
To make these you’ll need:
- Chicken cutlets– You could also use thinly sliced chicken tenders or chicken breasts.
- Flour– All purpose though you can use gluten free if you need to
- Eggs– For dredging
- Breadcrumbs– Regular breadcrumbs but you could panko for extra crunch
- Spices– Paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper
- Vegetable oil– For frying. You could also use canola oil or peanut oil instead.
How to Make
Homemade chicken fries are very easy to make.
To do it, cut the chicken breasts into skinny, long strips that are about 1/2 inch wide.
Then set out three shallow bowl or pie pans.
Add the flour to the first bowl, beat the eggs into the second, and whisk together the breadcrumbs and spices in the third.
Then, heat an inch of oil a large skillet over medium high heat until it reaches 350 degrees.
While the oil heats, dredge the chicken fries first through flour, then through the beaten eggs and finally through the breadcrumbs.
Fry them in batches, being careful not to over crowd the pan, for 4-5 minutes until the chicken fries are cooked through and golden.
When they are golden, drain them on a wire rack or put them on a paper towel lined plate.
Repeat until all the chicken fries are cooked.
Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
