This creamy dill pickle dip is ready in just 5 minutes. It’s the perfect appetizer, or snack, when you want something refreshing!
Pickles are pretty much their own food group in our house.
I’m not even joking. The kids and I go through several jars a week.
One of them even chugs pickle juice after he gets home from football practice. He swears it’s even better than Gatorade.
While we love all things pickle, dill pickle is our favorite.
And while I’ve tried a million of these ‘taste just like’ a pickle dips found in the stores, none has even tasted really good (or even like a darn pickle) to us.
So I decided to make my own.
This creamy dill pickle dip is now a family favorite, and requested at pretty much every picnic and barbecue.
If you have 5 minutes, whip up a batch of this creamy pickle dip and find out what all the fuss is about!
Ingredients Needed
You only need a handful of ingredients to make this creamy dill pickle dip, which is another reason I love it so much.
You’ll need:
- Pickles – You’ll need DILL pickles for this recipe. Do not sub another variety. I recommend a crisp, refrigerated variety.
- Sour Cream – Use full fat. This is already a thinner dip, using reduced fat or no fat will make it runny.
- Mayonnaise – REAL mayonnaise folks, preferably Hellman’s or Dukes.
- Seasonings – Minced garlic and freshly chopped dill season this creamy dip.

Dipping Options
One of my favorite things about dip is how easy it is to pair with multiple options for dunking.
A variety of options entertain guests, and also give the dip a different feel with each choice.
Some of our favorites include:
- Chips
- Toasted Baguette Slices
- Hush Puppies
- Pretzels or Pretzel Chips/Crackers
- Fried Fish
- Vegetables
- Chicken Nuggets
- An assortment of crackers
How To Thicken Pickle Dip
This dip is on the thinner side, making it perfect for chip dipping.
If you want a thicker, creamier dip- use whipped cream cheese as the base, and less sour cream.
TIPS & TRICKS
- Do NOT sub miracle whip for the mayonnaise. The tang from miracle whip will be overpowering.
- Use a dill pickle variety you love to eat. That flavor shines through.
- You can use dried dill, but keep in mind that dried herbs generally have a stronger flavor than fresh. So in that case, use less.
