  • Pickles– A jar of sliced pickles and not pickle spears or whole pickles. Save some of the pickle juice.
  • Seasoned batter mix– Sometimes it’s called all purpose fry batter.
  • Oil– To fry the fritters

How to Make

Dill pickle fritters are surprisingly easy to make!

Just mince the drained pickle slices into small pieces on a cutting board.

Then put the minced pickles in a bowl.

Stir in 3/4 cup of batter mix to the minced pickles.

Add more batter mix or pickle juice as needed until the minced pickles are coated in batter that’s about the consistency of pancake batter.

Then pour oil into a heavy bottomed pan until the oil is about 1/2 an inch thick.

Heat the oil over medium heat.

Once the oil is hot, drop 2 tablespoon scoops of batter into the oil, flattening the dollops slightly with the back of a spoon.

Fry the fritters for 2 to 3 minutes, then flip them over and fry for an additional 2 to 3 minutes on the other side.

Storing Leftovers

These are best enjoyed right after you make them as they will lose some of their crispiness in the fridge.

However, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

For best results when you reheat them, heat them on the stovetop in a nonstick pan over medium heat until warmed through or pop them in an air fryer and air fry until warm.

Tips and Tricks

  • Don’t overcrowd your frying pan. This will drop the temperature of the oil and lead to uneven cooking.
  • The batter should be the consistency of pancake mix. You may need to add some pickle juice or extra batter mix to reach the right consistency.
  • These are delicious with ranch! You could also dip them into marinara sauce.
