To make this you’ll need:

  • Mayonnaise– Real, full fat mayonnaise and not mayonnaise style dressing, Miracle Whip, or lite mayo.
  • Ketchup– You could use an equal amount of canned tomato puree.
  • Relish– The sweet pickle variety.
  • Lemon juice– Fresh squeezed.
  • Seasonings– Dried onion flakes, paprika, and salt.

How to Make

Homemade Thousand Island dressing is so easy to make!

To do it, just whisk all the ingredients together in a small mixing bowl until everything is evenly combined.

Cover it and pop it in the fridge for at least an hour.

  • While you may be tempted to enjoy the dressing right away, I highly recommend not to skip the chill time. This step allows to flavors to blend and build as well as for the onion flakes to properly soften.
  • Give the dressing a taste before serving and adjust the seasoning as needed.
  • Full fat mayo is a must! The lower fat kind won’t have the right texture.
