Barbecue season is here and that means it’s time for my favorite barbecue side.

Baked beans of course.

Now sure you can make them from scratch, but this busy mama doesn’t have time for that.

So I’m gonna show you how to make the best canned baked beans you’ll ever taste with just 10 quick minutes of prep time.

Ingredients

To make these you’ll need:

  • Canned baked beans– Use a 53 ounce can of pork and beans. You can use a different variety if you want to skip the pork.
  • Green pepper– Diced
  • Dried minced onion– No need to actually mince an onion for this!
  • Bacon crumbles– Real bacon crumbles not bacon bits. Again you could skip this if you were looking to skip meat in this.
  • Condiments– Ketchup, spicy brown mustard, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar
  • Sugar– Brown

How to Make

You will not believe how easy it is to make the best canned baked beans!

Just spray a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick spray.

Stir together all of the ingredients in the prepared dish and spread them out evenly.

Bake the beans at 350 uncovered for an hour.

Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat in the microwave or in the oven until warmed through.

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes!

You can put this together a day ahead of time.

Just cover the dish and refrigerate it until 30 minutes before you’re ready to cook.

Then let them sit on the counter for 30 minutes and come to room temperature prior to baking.

Bake according to the instructions above and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • Use your favorite brand of baked beans.
  • Take them up another notch by topping them with some shredded cheddar cheese or French fried onions.
  • For a little heat, you can stir in a teaspoon of hot sauce. If you want less spice, use dijon mustard instead of spicy brown mustard.

Ingredients

  • 1 53 oz can pork & beans
  • 1/2 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 tbsp dried minced onion
  • 2 tbsp real bacon crumbles
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2-3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp spicy brown mustard
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  • Spray a 9x13" baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Add all of the ingredients to the prepared baking dish and stir together until evenly combined.
    1 53 oz can pork & beans, 1/2 cup diced green pepper, 1 tbsp dried minced onion, 2 tbsp real bacon crumbles, 1/4 cup ketchup, 2-3 tbsp brown sugar, 2 tbsp spicy brown mustard, 2 tbsp molasses, 2 tsp worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • Bake at 350°, uncovered, for one hour.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes, then serve warm and enjoy!
