No churn cookies and cream ice cream is the homemade version of your favorite frozen treat. Oreo cookies dot creamy vanilla ice cream for a dessert you’ll love scooping out anytime.
I’m a huge fan of treating myself and the kids to ice cream in the summer.
These Southern summers are not for the faint of heart after all.
Unfortunately neither is the price of hitting up the ice cream shop with 4 kids in tow.
So instead of going out, I treat them by making their favorite flavors at home.
And this no churn cookies and cream ice cream is a hit!
What’s not to love?
Chocolate sandwich cookies laced through a creamy vanilla ice cream.
It’s the ultimate milk and cookie combination and a classic for a reason!
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Heavy cream– Don’t substitute this for lower fat dairy.
- Sugar– Granulated
- Chocolate sandwich cookies– Like Oreos. You’re going to remove the filling from half of the cookies or so and set it aside to mix right into the ice cream.
- Vanilla– Real vanilla extract is best.
How to Make
No churn cookies and cream ice cream is super easy to make!
Just whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
Set it aside.
Scrape the filling out of 15 to 20 of the Oreos and set that aside.
Then add the Oreos you’ve taken the filling out of to a blender or food processor and pulse the cookies 3 times for a second each time.
Set the cookie crumbs aside.
Fold the vanilla, sugar, and sandwich cookie filling into the whipped cream.
Then fold in the cookie crumbs.
Chop the remaining cookies into fourths or sixths and fold those into the ice cream mixture.
Then pour the mixture into a 6 cup or 1.5 quart dish.
Freeze the ice cream for 4 to 6 hours or overnight.
Serve and enjoy!
Storing No Churn Ice Cream
After you freeze the ice cream initially, transfer it to an air tight freezer safe container and freeze it for up to 3 months.
Tips and Tricks
- You can use regular Oreos or Oreos that have more stuffing than normal ones and just adjust the amount of cookies you use to accommodate.
- This would also work with Golden Oreos if you wanted some variety.
- Let the ice cream sit on your counter for 10 to 15 minutes prior to serving it so it softens enough for you to scoop it.
