Pizza Crunch Recipe
Pizza crunch is a beer battered, fried pizza that transforms a humble frozen pie into a crispy, melty treat. It’s an easy way to switch up pizza night when everyone’s bored of the usual slice.

How do you make anything instantly more over the top and just so much better?
Beer batter it and then deep fry it, obviously.
And that’s exactly what pizza crunch is.

Crunchy, deep fried, beer battered frozen pizza.
It’s the most delicious way to up your frozen pizza game and the whole thing is ready in under 20 minutes, which is less time than it takes to get pizza delivered.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:

- Flour– All purpose
- Corn Flour– Not cornstarch or cornmeal. Corn flour is finely ground corn that makes tender baked goods. You can find it in the baking aisle or online.
- Baking soda– For leavening
- Salt
- Beer– Your favorite light beer
- Frozen pizza– I’m using a frozen cheese pizza so I don’t have to worry about the toppings falling off into the batter. Cut it into quarters.
- Oil– Canola or vegetable oil for frying
- Flaky salt– Optional
How to Make
Pizza crunch is so easy to make.
Start by heating 2 inches of oil in a large pot to 350.

While the oil heats, whisk the flour, corn flour, baking soda, and salt together in a shallow bowl.

Then whisk in 1 cup of light beer, gradually adding more as needed until the batter reaches the consistency of pancake batter.
Then dip both sides of the pizza into the batter to coat it.

Immediately put the battered pizza cheese side down into the hot oil.
Fry it for 2-3 minutes, then flip it over and fry it for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Remove the fried pizza from the oil and set onto a rack to drain it and let it cool.
Sprinkle with flaky salt.

Repeat this with the other pizza slices.
Serve hot with french fries and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers
This is one of those recipes that is best served right when you make it.
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat in a hot oven until warmed through.

Tips and Tricks
- Make sure you use light beer instead of regular beer or lager. Light beer creates a lighter, crispier breading.
- Don’t overcrowd the oil. I recommend only frying one to two pieces at a time depending on the size of your pot.
- Use your favorite frozen pizza brand.
