And this baked brie wrapped in puff pastry is a highlight for sure!
We’re talking rich, earthy, buttery cheese topped with your favorite jam and nestled into flaky puff pastry.
It seems fancy but it’s not hard to make with only 5 ingredients and everyone will love it!
Ingredients
To make puff pastry wrapped brie you’ll need:
- Puff pastry– Thaw it according the instructions on the package or use homemade puff pastry
- Brie– An 8 ounce round of brie with the rind on
- Jam– Any sweet jam you like. Apricot and raspberry jam are very popular choices.
- Sugar– Brown
- Egg– Beaten with a teaspoon of water for an egg wash
How to Make
Making puff pastry wrapped brie is so easy!
Just unwrap the brie and with a serrated knife cut a very thin slice off the top of the brie to remove the top rind.
Set the brie aside briefly.
Then roll the puff pastry out on a lightly floured surface into an 11″ square.
Set the brie cut side up in the very center of the rolled out puff pastry and spread the jam out in a thin layer on top the cheese.
Starting at one corner fold the dough over the brie in pleats, brushing with the egg wash for glue in between each, until the brie is completely covered.
Cut off any excess pastry, and brush the top and sides of the pastry with the egg wash.
Sprinkle the sugar evenly out overtop of the puff pastry.
Transfer the pastry wrapped cheese to a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake the brie at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until the pastry has puffed and gotten golden brown.
When the puff pastry is golden, carefully remove the hot dish from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes.
Then enjoy warm with your favorite dippers.
Serving Suggestions
Serve baked brie wrapped in puff pasty with a selection of dippers or things to spread the melted cheese on like:
- baguette slices
- sliced apples
- crackers
How long will the brie stay spreadable?
The brie will stay dippable/spreadable for about 45 minutes or so.
Tips and Tricks
- Don’t skip the rest time. The cheese will come out of the oven hot like molten lava.
- Do not overbake. If the brie gets overbaked it will melt completely and run out of the dough.
- For the best results bake in the oven on the middle rack.
- If using a larger wheel of brie (12-16 oz) to feed more people roll the dough out to 12″ square instead of 11″.
