Reese’s peanut butter fudge is a creamy soft fudge that tastes just like your favorite peanut butter candy. It’s an easy two ingredient recipe, three if you top with Reese’s candy pieces, that’s quick to whip up. It’s the perfect sweet treat for sharing with family, friends, and makes a great edible gift.
My kids love sweets, to the point it’s like an obsession.
When I pick them up from school, having a little treat on hand has become a tradition.
Something small that they will go nuts for, but something I know won’t ruin their appetite for a healthy supper.
Bringing them a little square or two of fudge has become one of their favorite special snacks.
Especially if it’s this Reese’s peanut butter fudge specifically.
They go gaga for it’s ultra creamy texture and intense peanut butter taste. It’s especially enjoyable after a really hard day at school (or work).
If you like fudge, and especially if you like Reese’s flavor- this quick and easy recipe is a must have.
It’s so good, you don’t need a formal occasion or holiday as an excuse to make it and enjoy, and day will do!
Ingredients Needed
You only need a couple ingredients to make this easy peanut butter fudge.
You’ll need:
- Peanut Butter – You’ll need creamy NOT crunchy peanut butter for this fudge. For the most authentic flavor I recommend using the Reese’s brand, but any creamy brand will work.
- Frosting – You’ll need a 14 oz tub of vanilla frosting- the kind found in the baking aisle near the cake mixes. Any brand.
- Candy – The candy topping is totally optional, but adds a nice fun finish for Reese’s fans. We use Reese’s pieces, but you could also use chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups- either full size, fun size, or the minis.
Once you’ve got your ingredients together, you’re ready to make some fudge!
How To Make
Start by lining an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
Make sure the paper comes over the sides on at least two sides, as this will make removing it from the pan quick and easy.
Add all of the peanut butter to a large microwave safe bowl, then microwave it in twenty second increments. Stir well in between each interval, and only microwave until the mixture is melted and smooth.
Scoop the frosting into the bowl, scraping the sides of the tub to get it all.
Then stir together until the mixture’s smooth and evenly incorporated, working quickly as it will begin to firm up and harder every second it cools.
Transfer the mixture to the prepared dish, using a spatula to scrape it out of the bowl and spread it out into an even layer that’s meets all the edges. It doesn’t have to be smooth, just get it as smooth as you can on top.
If using the Reese’s candies, sprinkle them evenly out overtop of the fudge.
Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours so that it firms up and sets.
Gently pull on the edges of the parchment paper to dislodge the fudge and remove it from the dish.
Cut into squares and serve.
How To Store
To store homemade peanut butter fudge, add the cut squares to an airtight container separating the layers between pieces of parchment or wax paper.
It can then be safely refrigerated for up to four weeks.
Alternatively, the fudge can be frozen for up to 6 months.
TIPS & TRICKS
- When combining the melted peanut butter and frosting, whisk the mixture together quickly since the mixture will begin to thicken as it cools.
- The fudge is a soft fudge, it will never be rock hard and will soften quickly when removed from the refrigerator. Leftovers will need to go back in the fridge when done.
- You can use any brand of frosting for this recipe.
- Want extra Reese’s flavor? Stir in chopped Reese’s peanut butter cups into the fudge mixture.
