We love a good steak.
My boys are huge fans of classic meat and potato meals.
But I don’t always feel like firing up the grill or getting the house smoky with a stove top steak.
With my air fryer, I can make it anytime I feel like it in under half an hour!
Not too shabby!
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Steak– 1 inch thick ribeye steaks
- Olive oil
- Seasoning– Italian seasoning or another seasoning of your choice, salt, and pepper
- Garlic butter– For serving
How to Cook Steak in an Air Fryer
Cooking steak in an air fryer is so easy!
Just rub both sides of each steak with olive oil and then season both sides with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Put the steaks in the basket of the air fryer.
Make sure they aren’t touching or overlapping.
Air fry the steaks at 400° for for 12 minutes, flipping over at the halfway point.
Transfer the steaks to a waiting plate, and let them rest for 10 minutes.
Top with a pat of butter, serve, and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
Reheat in the air fryer or on the stovetop just until warm.
How long to cook steak in the air fryer?
For us, perfect air fryer steak is medium so we cook it for 12 minutes, flipping it half way through.
If you like it less done, adjust the time down and for a more well done steak, adjust up.
Will air fryer steak dry out?
If you follow this recipe, it won’t!
It has several safeguards to ensure a juicy steak:
- rubbing the outside with olive oil
- cooking it at a higher temperature for a shorter time
- letting it rest for at least ten minutes before serving
Tips and Tricks
- You don’t have to use Italian seasoning, you can sub another seasoning you prefer- including steak seasoning. You could also omit the seasoning altogether, but don’t skip the salt and pepper.
- When flipping the steaks, use tongs so that you don’t burn yourself on the air fryer basket or the hot meat.
- This recipe should result in a perfectly cooked medium steak; however, it won’t have a traditional ‘sear’.
- Keep in mind that different brands of air fryers may cook differently.
