We love going out for hibachi, but it is costly especially with 6 of us.

While we enjoy it for a special occasion, we can’t partake in hibachi as often as we’d like.

But this air fryer hibachi chicken and vegetable recipe tastes exactly like what we’d order from our favorite Japanese steakhouse.

And it’s easy to make, good for you, and good for your wallet too!

Ingredients

To make this you’ll need:

  • Chicken– Boneless, skinless breasts cut into pieces.
  • Zucchini– Thinly sliced and cut into quarters
  • Yellow squash– Thinly sliced and then cut into quarters
  • Mushrooms– White button mushrooms cut into quarters
  • Olive oil– Or another light colored mild oil
  • Soy sauce– You can adjust the amount you use to taste
  • Vinegar– Rice wine vinegar.
  • Sesame oil– Just a little of it since it is a very strong flavor.
  • Seasonings– Salt, pepper, minced garlic, and garlic powder

How to Make

Air fryer hibachi chicken and vegetables is so easy to make!

Just add all of the ingredients minus two tablespoons of olive oil to a large mixing bowl and stir everything together so the chicken and veggies are evenly coated.

Spread the chicken and veggies out into an even layer in the basket of your air fryer.

Drizzle on the remaining olive oil.

Air fry the chicken and veggies at 375 for 15 minutes.

Serve over steamed white rice with yum yum sauces.

Storing leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat in the microwave until warmed through.

What seasoning do they use for hibachi?

This recipe relies on garlic, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and sesame oil for seasoning.

It tastes just like the hibachi you’d get out at a restaurant.

Tips and Tricks

  • Adjust the veggies to suit your tastes. Don’t like mushrooms? No problem! Don’t use.
  • To control the sodium a bit more, you can use the low sodium variety of soy sauce.
  • You can add more garlic if you would like but don’t add more sesame oil because it is so strong.

Ingredients

  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts trimmed of fat, and cut into chunks
  • 2-3 medium zucchini thickly sliced, then cut into quarters
  • 2-3 medium yellow squash thickly sliced, then cut into quarters
  • 12 oz white button mushrooms washed & quartered
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup olive oil + 2 tbsp
  • 1/4- 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • Add all of the ingredients, except the 2 tablespoons of olive oil, to a large mixing bowl then stir together until everything's evenly combined.
    3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, 2-3 medium zucchini, 2-3 medium yellow squash, 12 oz white button mushrooms, salt & pepper, 3 tbsp minced garlic, 1/3 cup olive oil, 1/4- 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1 1/2 tbsp rice wine vinegar, 1 tbsp sesame oil, 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Transfer the chicken and vegetable mixture to the basket of your air fryer, spreading it out into an even layer. Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons evenly out over the mixture.
  • Cook at 375° for 15 minutes.
  • Serve with steamed white rice and yum yum sauce.

Notes
