Is there anything better than hitting up the ice cream shop on a hot day and enjoying a sweet, creamy treat?

I can only think of one thing.

Enjoying classic ice cream shop treats right at home.

Like these cream soda ice cream floats.

It’s quick and easy to make them right at home and you can make them for a crowd for the cost of one at an ice cream shop.

How to Make

These ice cream soda floats are even easier than milkshakes to make!

You don’t even need a blender.

All you do is add a large scoop of vanilla ice cream to a tall glass and pour the cream soda slowly over the ice cream until it fills the glass to just under the rim.

Serve immediately as is with a teaspoon or long straw or add your favorite toppings.

Enjoy!

Ice Cream Float Topping Ideas

You can top these with:

  • whipped cream
  • caramel sauce
  • chocolate syrup
  • cherries
  • sprinkles

Is cream soda good in a float?

Yes!

Cream soda has vanilla syrup for flavoring and when paired with vanilla ice cream it’s *chef’s kiss* perfect.

What does a cream soda float taste like?

Cream soda is a sweet, vanilla flavored carbonated drink.

The vanilla ice cream melts quickly into the cream soda and creates a thicker creamy vanilla drink.

Tips and Tricks

  • There are other variations like the soda float. With the soda float, use your favorite brand of soda like a can of Coke, orange soda, or root beer and ice cream.
  • Since ice cream melts fast, to help combat this you can freeze the glass for up to 30 minutes before filling.
  • This recipe is easy to double, triple, or even quadruple to serve a crowd.
