Do you love Rice Krispie treats as much as I do?

They are so yummy and easy to make.

But cleaning them up is a pain in the butt with all the marshmallow on a pot and then in a bowl too.

My slow cooker version takes all that annoyance out of it for a treat that’s a breeze to make and clean up after.

Ingredients

To make these you’ll need:

  • Butter– Salted
  • Marshmallows– I prefer the mini kind for this.
  • Rice Krispies– You could use the store brand if you prefer.

How to Make

Making these cereal treats is a snap!

To do it, first cover the bowl of your crockpot with a liner.

Then, turn your crockpot to high heat and add the butter to the bottom of the bowl.

Put the lid on and let it set for a couple minutes, just until the butter melts.

Then, add the marshmallows to the bowl of the crockpot.

Return the lid to cover, and let it sit again so that they melt.

Once the marshmallows melt, stir everything together until the mixture’s mostly smooth.

Turn the crockpot OFF.

Next, spray a 9×13″ baking dish with nonstick spray until evenly coated.

Transfer the cereal mixture to it, and then spread out in an evenly layer pressing to all edges of the pan.

Set the mixture aside and allow it to cool completely.

Cut into squares and serve.

Enjoy!

Can I make these ahead of time?

Yes, you can make these up to a day in advance.

How to Store Rice Krispie Treats

Store them in an airtight container on the counter or in individual ziplocking bags.

They will be freshest within 2 days of making.

Tips and Tricks

  • Whether using a spatula or your hands to spread the rice krispie mixture out into an even layer, spray with nonstick spray so they don’t stick to the implement either.
  • Like with other candy creations in the crockpot, stuck on marshmallow can be a pain to scrub off. Using a disposable crockpot liner when making this recipe will make clean up a breeze.
  • For a fun serving suggestion, the sons like to leave leftover treats out so that they get stale overnight, then crumble them up into bowls and enjoy in the morning with a splash of milk.
