I’m a self professed pickle lover, specifically dill pickles.

It’s my guilty pleasure snack obsession.

I will happily munch on them straight out of the jar, anytime of the day or night.

Because I adore the flavor so much, I’m no stranger to adding them to foods to make deliciously epic combinations.

Just take this dill pickle pot roast, dill pickle bread, or pickle de gallo as examples.

There are some foods that just beg for a little crunchy dill pickle to be added to them.

One of those is pizza!

This creamy, cheesy white pizza is topped with dill pickle chips and is any pickle lovers’ dream come true- in pizza form, of course.

Just grab a slice and find out for yourself!

Ingredients Needed

This delicious pizza with pickles only uses simple ingredients.

To make it you’ll need:

  • Ranch Dressing – Use a creamy ranch dressing you personally enjoy eating since this is a predominant flavor. You’ll need roughly a measured 1/3 cup’s worth.
  • Cream Cheese – Use cream cheese spread for this, not actual blocks of cream cheese.
  • Mustard – A teensy bit of tangy mustard adds the perfect amount of zing to this pizza sauce base.
  • Spices – You’ll need both minced garlic and dried dill to season this.
  • Pizza Crust – Use any 12″ pizza crust found in the pizza section aisle of your local grocery store.
  • Cheese – Shredded mozzarella, you can use pre or freshly shred for this.
  • Bacon – You can use fresh bacon bits or freshly cooked, drained, and crumbled bacon- you’ll need 1.2 a cups worth.
  • Pickles – Dill pickle chips, your favorite variety, and you can use as many or as few as your desire; however, they will need to be patted dry with paper towels to remove the excess moisture.

Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients, it’s time to get cooking.

How To Make

Making this dill pickle pizza is pretty easy, which is just another reason I love this recipe.

Homemade pizza can seem daunting, but with this version- you’re going to be done in minutes!

Start by making the creamy white pizza sauce- it’s easy, I promise.

To a large mixing bowl add the ranch dressing, softened cream cheese, yellow mustard, and dried dill weed.

Using a hand mixer, whip the ingredients together until the mixture’s smooth.

Add the pizza crust to a pizza pan, then spread half of the creamy mixture evenly out over top in a double batch.

Spread half the pickles evenly out over the tip of the pizza.

Spread the pickle chips evenly out over the pizza, then spread the remaining half of the creamy pizza sauce over the pizza.

Spread the rest of the dill pickle chips evenly out overtop.

Where Did Pickle Pizza Originate?

While Pizza Hut claims to be the first to offer pickles as a topping for pizza, the first documented dill pickle pizza came from a pizzeria in Rochester, New York named Rhino’s in 2018.

With it’s creamy garlic sauce base and dill pickle chip topping, it quickly went viral.

Now it’s gone the route of many other infamous food pairings and become a state fair food staple, especially out in the Midwest.

Storing & Reheating

Leftover slices of pickle pizza should be stored in an air tight container.

The leftovers can be kept for 3-4 days.

When ready to reheat, pop them in a toaster oven or an air fryer.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • Make sure to use a good quality ranch- it makes all the difference!
  • You can use a thick or a thin crust, depending on your preference.
  • Be sure to use a paper towel to pat your dill pickle chips dry before topping your pizza with them. The excess moisture can lead to soggy pizza otherwise.
  • The cream sauce makes A LOT, you may not want so much on your pizza. Spread enough on that it’s a thick layer, but no too thick that your toppings will be swimming once it melts.
