To make these you’ll need:

  • Cake mix– Make sure you are using white cake mix not yellow! Use your favorite brand.
  • Oil– Canola
  • Eggs
  • Sugar– Powdered not granulated

How to Make

Making red white and blue crinkle cookies from cake mix is pretty easy!

Just beat the cake mix, oil, and eggs together with a hand mixer until combined in a large mixing bowl.

Then divide the batter into three different bowls.

Mix blue gel into one bowl and red gel into another.

Leave the third one plain white.

Spread the powdered sugar out in an even layer on a shallow plate.

Working with one color dough at a time, use a 1.5 tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop a ball of dough and roll it into a ball.

Then, roll the cookie dough ball in the powdered sugar.

Put the powder sugar coated cookie dough ball onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Repeat until all of that color dough has been used.

Then wash the cookie scoop and move onto the next color.

Repeat this until all the cookies have been prepared, washing the scoop between colors.

Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the cookies are puffy.

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool and finish firming up.

Serve and enjoy!

Storing

Store these cookies in an airtight container on the counter for up to a week after baking them.

Tips and Tricks

  • To avoid mixing the colors, wash and dry the cookie scoop in between switching bowls. Don’t skip this!
  • The cookies will spread some as they puff up during cooking so be sure not to overcrowd the pan. I only did 12 cookies per baking sheet.
  • The parchment paper makes for easy clean up and ensures the cookies will not stick to the pan. If you don’t have parchment you could line the trays with foil and spray the foil with nonstick spray.
