Roast Beef and Cheddar Sliders with Horseradish

Roast beef and cheddar sliders with horseradish are zippy sandwiches perfect for an easy dinner, lunch, or appetizers. Hawaiian rolls get piled high with tender beef, melted cheddar, horseradish spread and a zesty sauce for a dish you’ll crave!

I love me a good slider.

Toasty buns, fillings of your choice and a whole tray of sandwiches that can feed a hungry crowd in a snap.

And these roast beef and cheddar sliders are the sammy of choice for any Arby’s fans.

Thinly sliced beef, melted cheese and creamy horseradish sauce

really remind me of the classic Beef N Cheddar.

But a version you can make right at home!

Ingredients

To make this you’ll need a set of simple ingredients for the sliders themselves and a second set of ingredients for the buttery marinade.

For the sliders you’ll need:

  • Hawaiian rolls– A 16 count package, sliced in half.
  • Roast beef– Thinly sliced
  • Cheese– Both thinly sliced provolone cheese (not smoked) and thinly sliced cheddar cheese
  • Creamy horseradish spread– Your favorite kind

And for the marinade you’ll need:

  • Salted butter– Melted
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Spices– Garlic powder, ground muster, onion powder, and minced onion

How to Make

To make these start, by taking the Hawaiian rolls out of their packaging.

Using a serrated bread knife, cut them in half (lengthwise) to create a bottom layer and a top layer.

Put the bottom layer in a 9×13″ dish you’ve sprayed with nonstick spray, trying to keep them together.

Spread half of the creamy horseradish sauce evenly out overtop the bottom bread layer.

Then, top the horseradish-ed rolls with the pound of thinly sliced roast beef.

Layer the cheeses onto the beef layer.

Spread the remaining horseradish sauce out evenly over the cheese layer.

Add the top half layer of the buns- try to get it aligned in as exact a match as possible.

Set the sliders aside while you make the marinade.

To make the marinade, melt the butter and then whisk the remaining ingredients into the melted butter.

Pour the marinade evenly out overtop of the sliders in the baking dish.

Spread out with a spatula, as needed.

Then, cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil, and bake at bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is nice and melted.

Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly brown and crispy.

Serve warm and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

I don’t recommend keeping leftovers.

The rolls will get soggy and they just won’t be as yummy.

Does cheddar cheese pair well with roast beef?

I think it’s a pretty classic flavor combo that tastes so good!

So yes!

Tips and Tricks

  • When adding the top layer of buns, try to line it up in as exact a match as possible with the bottom ones. This will ensure easier slicing (or pulling) apart of the sliders after baking.
  • If a whole stick of butter is too much for you, you could cut it down to 1/2 a stick, but you’ll also need to halve the other marinade ingredients too.
  • Make sure not to use smoked provolone or it will overpower the other flavors.

Ingredients

  • 16 count pkg sweet Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef
  • 8 oz pkg thinly sliced provolone cheese NOT smoked provolone
  • 8 oz pkg thinly sliced cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup creamy horseradish spread divided

For The Marinade

  • 1 stick salted butter
  • 3 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp minced onion

Instructions

To Assemble The Sliders

  • Remove your Hawaiian rolls from their packaging. Using a serrated bread knife, cut them in half (lengthwise) to create a bottom layer and a top layer.
  • Spray a 9x13" baking dish with non stick spray.
  • Transfer the bottom layer to the prepared dish, keeping them together and as intact as possible.
  • Spread 1/4 cup of the creamy horseradish sauce evenly out overtop the bottom bread layer.
  • Spread the pound of thinly sliced roast beef out over the bottom rolls evenly.
  • Top with the cheeses in an even layer.
  • Spread the remaining 1/4 cup of creamy horseradish sauce out evenly over the cheese layer. Add the top half layer of the buns- try to get it aligned in as exact a match as possible. Set aside.

To Make The Marinade

  • Melt the butter, either in a pot on the stove or in a microwave safe bowl.
  • Add the remaining marinade ingredients to the bowl, and whisk the together until evenly combined.
  • Pour the marinade evenly out overtop of the sliders in the baking dish. Spread out with a spatula, as needed.
  • Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil, and bake at bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is nice and melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly browned and crisped.
