School breakfast pizza aka lunch lady pizza is a yummy, nostalgic breakfast. Pizza crust gets baked with white country gravy, mozzarella cheese, and crumbled sausage for a hearty morning meal, lunch or breakfast for dinner situation.
Do you remember school breakfast pizza?
When I’m feeling nostalgic I’m all about making these recipes that remind me of being a kid.
And lunch lady pizza takes me right back to school lunches.
It was one of the best there was!
A thick crust, white gravy, cheese, and sausage.
No wonder I loved it when I was a kid and that my kids love it today!
And because it has only 4 ingredients and comes together really quickly, I love it even more.
I’m all about any easy recipe that gets a hearty meal in my kids’ bellies before their busy days start.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Pizza crust– 1 13.8 ounce can of refrigerated pizza crust. You can generally find this by the refrigerated canned rolls and cinnamon rolls in the grocery store.
- Country gravy mix– A 2.75 ounce packet of your favorite white country gravy mix
- Cheese– Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Sausage– Cooked, crumbled pork sausage
How to Make
Making this school breakfast pizza recipe is easy!
To do it, spray an 11×15″ rimmed baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
Then open and unroll the pizza dough, placing it in the middle of the pan.
Press it out with your clean hands evenly so it spreads out to the edges of the pan and up the sides 1/4 inch.
Bake the crust at 400° for six minutes.
While the crust bakes, make the gravy according to the instructions on the package.
Then spread the gravy evenly out over the crust all the way to the edge.
Top evenly with the cheese followed by the cooked sausage crumbles.
Bake at 400° for another 10 – 12 minutes or until the crust is cooked through and the edges are golden brown.
Carefully remove the hot pan from the oven and let the pizza rest for 5 full minutes.
Slice, serve warm, and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
Store cooled slices of lunch lady pieces in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
You can reheat the slices in the microwave, but to crisp up the crust again, I recommend heating the pizza in a hot oven until warmed through.
Tips and Tricks
- Add other toppings! Extra sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, diced ham, and cheddar cheese are all super yummy on this!
- You could set up a toppings bar and have the kids add their favorites.
- Do not skip the rest time after baking. The rest time lets the cheese set so it won’t slide off when you slice the pizza.
