Shrimp fritters are delicious patties full of minced shrimp pan fried to perfection. These are a delicious low carb friendly appetizer or main course that can be on your table in 30 minutes.
After all the heavy food over the holiday season, sometimes I need to lighten it up a little.
Cut the carbs a bit- that kind of thing.
These shrimp fritters are the perfect dish when I want to cut the carbs without sacrificing flavor.
Plus they are super easy to make and ready in just 30 minutes, making them perfect for anytime- even busy weeknights!
Ingredients
To make these you’ll need:
- Shrimp– Cleaned, pat dry, and minced into 1/4″ pieces
- Cheese– Shredded mozzarella
- Almond flour– To keep these low carb. If you’re not worried about carbs then you can use all purpose flour.
- Veggies– Minced green pepper and and minced scallions
- Eggs
- Seasoning– Minced parsley, salt, ground black pepper
- Oil– For frying
How to Make
Making shrimp fritters is easy!
To do it, stir together all the ingredients except for the oil in a large bowl until well combined.
Add enough oil to a medium skillet to coat the bottom of the pan entirely.
Heat the oil over medium high heat.
Add 1/4 cup of the mixture to the pan and gently press it down with a spatula to flatten it into a patty shape.
Fry the shrimp fritter for 3-4 minutes and then flip and fry the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes.
Remove the shrimp fritter from the pan and set it on a paper towel lined plate to drain the extra oil.
Repeat this with the remaining shrimp mixture.
Serve and enjoy!
Serving Suggestions
I recommend serving these shrimp fritters with your favorite seafood sauce.
They are delicious with tartar sauce or cocktail sauce.
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an an airtight container in the fridge for no more than 3 days.
Reheat them in a hot oven until they are warmed through.
Shrimp Fritters vs Shrimp Cakes
Shrimp fritters are similar to shrimp cakes in that both are patties made of shrimp.
The main difference?
Shrimp cakes often contain breadcrumbs, which means they are not ideal if you are low carb.
Tips and Tricks
- Depending on the size of your pan, you may be able to cook several at a time. Just don’t overcrowd your pan.
- If you are looking to make a low carb meal, serve them with a side of broccoli or bell peppers.
- For some variety you can make or use different sorts of mayonnaise aioli for dipping. Chipotle or lime would both be yummy dipping options.

Ingredients
- 1 lb shrimp pat dry and minced into ¼” pieces

- ½ cup almond flour or all purpose if not low-carb
- ½ cup minced green pepper

- 1 scallion minced
- 1 tablespoon minced parsley
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir together the shrimp, cheese, almond flour, green pepper, eggs, scallion, parsley, salt, ground pepper until well combined1 lb shrimp, 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese, ½ cup almond flour, ½ cup minced green pepper, 2 large eggs, 1 scallion, 1 tablespoon minced parsley, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- To a medium skillet, add enough oil to completely coat the bottom, then heat over medium high heat.Oil for frying
- Drop ¼ cup of mixture into the pan, then gently flatten to form patty shape. Allow to cook for 3-4 minutes, then carefully flip to cook the other side until cooked through, an additional 3-4 minutes.
- Carefully remove to a paper towel lined plate and repeat with remaining shrimp mixture.
- Serve with seafood sauce to dip
