Listen, I could hit the Arby’s drive thru pretty much every day of the week.

But my wallet thinks that’s a terrible idea.

It turns a favorite fast food sandwich into something easy enough to make at home and gives everything I love about Arby’s classic sandwich a fun, family-friendly sloppy joe twist.

The seasoned ground beef cooks up in a rich, savory sauce before getting piled onto soft buns with plenty of melted cheddar and that signature sweet-tangy red sauce.

And they are ready in 30 minutes flat so you can get dinner on the table and get straight to digging in!

Ingredients

To make these you’ll need:

  • Ground beef– Go for leaner ground beef so the meat doesn’t cook down too much or get too greasy.
  • Seasonings– Minced onion and Worcestershire sauce
  • Sugar– Brown
  • Arby’s sauce– You can buy this in the condiment aisle in most major grocers.
  • Cheddar cheese sauce– The kind in a can.
  • Buns– For the most authenticity, use onion hamburger buns.

How to Make

These Arby’s Beef N Cheddar sloppy joes are a snap to make!

Just cook the beef, crumbling as it cooks, in a large skillet over medium heat until it is completely brown.

Strain off all the excess grease and then return the meat back to the pan.

Then stir in the dried onion, Worcestershire sauce, brown sauce, and Arby’s sauce to the beef.

Let the mixture come to a simmer for 10 minutes or just until it thickens, stirring often.

Take the skillet off the heat.

Divide the meat between the 4 buns, topping the meat with cheese sauce before closing the sandwich with the top bun.

Serve warm and enjoy!

Storing Leftovers

I don’t recommend storing the assembled sandwiches as the buns will get incredibly soggy.

However, you can store the cooked beef in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Store any unused, opened cheese sauce in its own airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat the beef in the microwave until hot and the cheese in the microwave until just warm.

Tips and Tricks

  • Serve these with frozen curly fries to really satisfy an Arby’s craving.
  • I like serving extra cheese sauce on the side for dipping the sandwiches into.
  • Make sure to stir the beef mixture after you add the onions, sauces, and sugars. Stirring will help keep the beef from burning.
