My boys and I love Wendy’s chili.

It’s so good.

But with 4 hungry boys and two adults with big appetites, going to Wendy’s anytime one of us wants their chili gets pretty expensive pretty quick.

My copycat recipe makes a spot on version of their classic right at home with a really simple prep.

Why is Wendy’s chili so good?

It’s super delicious partly because they use more than one kind of beans for maximum texture.

My copycat Wendy’s chili recipe does as well.

Plus, just like Wendy’s, I use crumbled up hamburger patties to add extra meatiness.

Ingredients

To make this you’ll need:

  • Ground beef– I recommend using leaner ground beef so the chili doesn’t get to greasy
  • Fresh vegetables– Peeled and diced onions, sliced celery, and seeded and diced green peppers
  • Hamburger patties– Use the premade frozen kind. Cook them through and then drain off the grease.
  • Seasoning– Packets of chili seasoning and garlic paste
  • Beans– Undrained ranch style beans and dark red kidney beans
  • Tomato products– Tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, and mild tomatoes with green chiles
  • Beef broth– To thin the liquid just a bit

How to Make

This is a one pot chili that comes together in under an hour!

To make it, saute the ground beef, onion, and celery in large soup pot over medium heat.

Cook, stirring often, until the meat is cooked through and crumbled.

Strain off any excess grease.

Chop the cooked hamburgers into bite sized pieces.

Stir the chopped, cooked burger patties and all remaining ingredients into the pot.

Then, bring the chili to a boil.

As soon as it boils, reduce the heat to medium low and let the mixture simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Ladle into bowls and serve with saltine crackers and sour cream.

Enjoy!
