Crock pot fried apples gives you a dish that tastes exactly like the famous Cracker Barrel fried apples that everyone loves. This yummy side has a quick prep and will make your house smell amazing as the apples slow cook to cinnamony perfection!
We love Cracker Barrel.
While their main dishes are awesome versions of my favorite southern comfort foods, their sides are my favorite.
Yes, I’m looking at you fried apples.
We’re talking cinnamony, buttery goodness that’s delicious with a savory main or super yummy served with fluffy pancakes or waffles.
And while you can make these Crock Pot fried apples on the stove top for another version of Cracker Barrel fried apples, this is an easy set it and forget it method.
So it’s perfect for days when you are super busy but still want the cozy, fragrant, festive side.
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Apples– Peeled, cored, and sliced. I recommend peeling the apples and then using an apple slicer to core and make thick slices. Then cut those slices in half.
- Butter– Salted butter cut into pats
- Brown sugar– Make sure you pack it when you measure it.
- Spices– Ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice
- Cornstarch– To thicken the buttery sauce
How to Make
This Crock Pot fried apple recipe is so easy to make!
To do it, add the prepared apples to the bowl of your slow cooker.
Sprinkle the cornstarch evenly out over the fruit, and stir so the apples are coated.
Whisk the sugar and spices together until no lumps remain and then sprinkle this mixture evenly out over the apples.
Spread the pats of butter evenly out over the seasoned apples.
Put the cover on the slow cooker and cook on high for 2 hours or low for 3.5-4 hours until the apples are fork tender.
Once the apples are fork tender, gently stir them.
Serve them warm.
Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks
- Want to make it even easier? Use one tablespoon apple pie spice in place of the seasoning blend recommended.
- Don’t let the apples overcook. If you do, you can mash them for homemade applesauce.
- I highly recommend Granny Smith apples for this. They are firmer and will cook nicely.
