And we also love a good cookie.

With the mixture of nuts, sweet dried fruit, and chocolate candy, it’s obvious that trail mix in chocolate chip cookies would be nothing less than a winner.

And oh boy was I right!

But don’t think that just because you’re adding an extra ingredient that you’ll be adding lots of extra work.

This cookie recipe uses packaged chocolate chip cookie mix so you can have your cookies and eat them too!

You don’t need much to make these cookies, just:

How to Make

To turn chocolate chip cookie mix into trail mix cookies, just prepare the cookie dough as instructed on the package directions.

Then, fold in the trail mix with a sturdy spatula until evenly combined.

Roll the dough into balls roughly 1.5 to 2 tablespoons each and put the dough balls on a nonstick cookie sheet, about 1.5 inches apart.

Bake at the temperature and time recommended on the package instructions.

Take the cookies out of the oven and let them cool for 10 minutes on the tray.

Then transfer them to a wire rack to finish cooling completely.

Serve and enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • Use whatever kind of chocolate chip cookie mix and trail mix you prefer.
  • To halve the recipe, use one package of cookie mix and 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons of trail mix.
  • You can use trail mixes that have cereal or granola in them, but for this recipe I prefer mixes that are more heavily dried fruit, nuts, and chocolate. It creates more of a monster cookie kind of situation.
