Walking Strawberry Shortcake Dessert
Walking strawberry shortcake dessert is a delicious portable no bake dessert perfect for picnics and barbecues. Featuring a muffin base, strawberry pie filling, and whipped topping, these are sure to be a hit during the warmer weather.
Have you ever had a walking taco?
If not you are totally missing out.
Walking tacos are lunch box sized bags of Fritos or Doritos topped with taco meat and your favorite taco toppings.
These walking strawberry shortcake desserts are a fun walking dessert that take the same concept but apply to a sweet treat with a pouch of muffins as the base and strawberry topping.
They are just as much fun to eat and super tasty!
So you know they will be a hit every time you serve them
Ingredients
To make this you’ll need:
- Little Bites Strawberry Yogurt Muffins– These are the muffins that are sold in a box of pouches. You may be able to substitute another variety of Little Bites like chocolate chip or birthday cake muffins but I am not aware of another brand that sells mini muffins in pouches.
- Strawberry pie filling– A 21 ounce can.
- Whipped topping– You can either use a thawed tub of Cool Whip or a can of whipped cream.
- Strawberry slices– For garnish.
How to Make
These walking strawberry shortcake desserts are super easy to make- no baking needed!
To make them, just cut open the side of each bag, leaving about 2 inches of room above the muffins.
Top the muffins with about an ounce of strawberry pie filling followed by a dollop of whipped topping.
Finish them off with 2 strawberry slices.
Serve and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
These don’t make great leftovers so only make what you will eat.
Store any leftover strawberry pie filling in an airtight container in the fridge.
Tips and Tricks
- Don’t make them ahead of time. They will get soggy if they sit too long.
- You could make a build your own walking strawberry shortcake bar, setting out the ingredients in different stations, and letting your guests or kids assemble their own.
- If I’m not using Reddi Whip and using a tub of whipped topping, I like to scoop the whipped topping into a frosting bag with a tip and pipe the frosting onto each so it’s less messy.
