Air fryer burgers are a delicious and easy alternative to grilling burgers you can make all year long. Perfectly cooked beef burgers get all the fixings.
I love my air fryer and will cook anything and everything in it at least once.
And I’m so glad I tried burgers in the air fryer.
It’s honestly the next best thing to grilling.
And since you don’t have to cook them outside, it’s far handier.
With only 5 minutes of active prep, you’ll see why these are on our menu even on busy nights!

How to Air Fry Burgers
Air frying burgers is easy!
To do it, preheat the air fryer to 380F.
When the air fryer is preheated, brush the grate with frying oil.
Put the burgers in the air fryer and fry them for 12 minutes on one side.
While the burgers are in the air fryer, caramelize the onions.
To do this, melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the onion for 5 minutes, stirring.
Stir in the brown sugar and continue to fry, stirring until the sugar melts and the onions turn brown.
At this point, it’ll probably be time to flip the burgers over and set the other side to air fry for 10 more minutes.
After the burgers air fry for another 10 minutes, cover each burger with a slice of cheese and air fry for another 1-2 minutes or until the cheese melts.
Spread BBQ sauce on two bun halves.
Place lettuce on the bottom half.
Top with a cheese burger followed with caramelized onions and any other toppings you like.
Cover with the other half of the bun, brushed with sauce and serve.
Enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat the burgers themselves in the air fryer until warmed through.
Tips and Tricks
- You can season the burger patties with burger seasoning or another spice rub if you like.
- The time will vary based on the thickness of the patties. If your patties are thicker, you may need to fry them longer.
- Don’t overcrowd the fryer. You want the air to be able to circulate so the burgers cook evenly.
