Fall is almost here, and that means pumpkin spice ‘all the things’ are coming too.
If pumpkin flavor and pumpkin pie spice aren’t your thing, then I apologize in advance. I, however, subscribe to them all.
Most people seem to associate the classic Fall flavor combination with coffee and dessert, and only those two things.
I’m here today to introduce you to my new breakfast obsession, this pumpkin cream cheese spread.

A whipped cream cheese base is infused with pumpkin puree, brown sugar, and finished with a hint of pumpkin pie spice.
It’s a super simple recipe that comes together in under 10 minutes, and will infuse a boring grab and go breakfast with seasonal flavor.
Mornings will be more delicious, and also a little more magical, with a schmear of this easy pumpkin cream cheese spread on your bagel or toast!

Ingredients Needed
Like all of our favorite recipes, this pumpkin cream cheese spread only requires a handful or simple ingredients to come together.
To make it you’ll need:
- Cream Cheese – 8 ounces cream cheese, softened. You can substitute Neufchatel is you’re looking for the same flavor, but with less calories.
- Pumpkin – Canned pumpkin puree, NOT pumpkin pie filling. While I tend to use the store bought variety if I’m in a hurry, you can also use our homemade version.
- Sugar – Brown sugar. You can use either light or dark, depending on what you have on hand and personal preference.
- Vanilla – Vanilla extract- either the real stuff or the imitation variety.
- Spices – A blend of ground cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice.
Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients you’re ready to whip up a batch!

How To Make
Making this flavored cream cheese spread is both quick and easy.
Start by adding all of the ingredients to a small mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer blend everything together until evenly incorporated, smooth, and extra creamy.
That’s it, your homemade pumpkin cream cheese spread is ready to enjoy.
You can use it immediately, or cover and chill for 1-2 hours first- if you prefer it on the colder side.

Storing
Extra cream cheese spread can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
You can also just make a batch on the weekend to store it so you can enjoy it all week long!
Tips & Tricks
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature beforehand. Cold cream cheese is very firm and doesn’t mix well which will leave you with chunks of cream cheese that don’t properly blend with the other ingredients.
- This spread uses pumpkin puree. Don’t confuse that with pumpkin pie filling, which is easy to do since they’re in similarly colored cans, often right next to each other on store shelves.
- Not a fan of pumpkin pie spice? That’s ok, you can just leave it out!
- You can use either light or brown sugar in this recipe, whichever you happen to have on hand or to personal preference- both will work.
- While I tend to use real vanilla extract, it can be pricey. Imitation vanilla extract will taste great too, and nobody will ever be able to tell the difference since it’s not the dominant flavor.
