No more!
These dirt cake cups served in buckets are an adorable summer themed dessert.
You’ll love them and so will kids of all ages.
And not only are they super delicious, but they are easy to make.
What is dirt cake made of?
Dirt cake is a popular dessert that’s not really cake at all.
Instead it’s a mix of chocolate pudding mousse, crushed Oreo cookies and gummy worms.
The result is a chocolatey treat that looks like dirt.
Ingredients
To make these you’ll need:
- Chocolate pudding– The instant kind, not the kind you need to cook.
- Cream cheese– Softened to room temperature
- Milk– Whole is best but anything you have works
- Whipped topping– Thawed
- Oreos– Crushed
- Gummy worms
You’ll also want clear 8 ounce buckets to serve these treats in.
How to Make
Dirt cake is very easy to make!
Start by crushing the Oreos in a food processor and set aside.
Then, use an electric mixer beat together the cream cheese and pudding mixes together in a large bowl until combined.
Beat in the milk a little at a time until everything is combined.
Gently fold in the whipped cream until well combined.
At this point you can assemble the dirt cake buckets.
Start by spooning some Oreo crumbs down the bottom of each bucket.
Next add a layer of the pudding mix followed by another layer of Oreo crumbs.
Add a final layer of pudding mix for two pudding layers and top them with a third layer of Oreo crumbs.
Top each with 2 gummy worms.
Refrigerate the dirt cakes for at least 1 hour so the pudding mixture can set.
Serve and enjoy!
Storing Leftovers
Store any leftover dirt cake cups in buckets in the fridge right in their buckets for up to 3 days.
I like to put any leftover buckets on a tray or in the bottom of a plastic container and then cover them with plastic wrap.
Can I make dirt cake ahead of time?
Yes! You can make it the night before if needed.
Just keep it in the fridge until ready to serve.
